For those that use pan covers, I have never done so in the past but was told I should try it out so here is what I’m working with. Landscape fabric thick stuff and what I’m looking for specifically is, am I cutting it right and if not how it should look when it’s done. I’ve enclosed a picture of what I did. Don’t worry I can take critiquing. Thanks Rick

Looks like it would work.
Is that stuff hard to cut?

Im cheap. I go to the dollar store and buy a roll of wax paper. Mash it flat with a hammer and cut it in half on my band saw. im sure any saw works even a hand saw. If you got an old junky kitchen knife can sharpen it up good and a couple three whacks with a hammer will cut it too.. Since its flat it doesn't come unrolled. Lays in my bag good. Just tear off a piece as I need one. Crumple it into ball then spread back out. Lays out better then. Takes a few seconds but not terrible. I don't even tear it for the dog anymore. Plenty of critters have told me you don't need to. I have tried screen, polyester fiberfill, insulation, unscented toilet paper, hamburger squares, coffee filters and an old bed sheet cut up. They all work. I just keep coming back to wax paper.

I would cut It a bit longer on each end so it sticks out about a 1" then when you add dirt the dirt will hold down the cover. And when It's longer the jaws will also help hold the fabric In place.
Cheap? I just picked up enough to do 100s for nothing.

I use wax paper too just like Danny but am trying some landscape fabric this year too. Mine doesn't look as heavy as yours but trials so far this year shows that it seem to work just fine. Like the Beav says, cut it a bit bigger.

I just buy the fiberglass ones from MTP. For $3.25 for 2 dozen covers I don’t even blink about it. For the cost of materials plus my time cutting them it doesn’t make sense to me to fool around trying to make them. If I just spend one extra hour at work I make enough to buy almost 300 pan covers, I doubt I could make that many in an hour myself

Looks good I use sandwich bags and under all on my Sterlings for a little heavier pan tension,i like 4lbs I miss a few red fox but catch VERY few skunks and if I do 95% are back foot catches on the stinker's. Good skunk can sell for 12-15
