Im using a 6' piece of butcher block countertop for a bar. What kind of oil do you finish it with? I hear stain or poly is a bad idea.

I use it on all my wood surfaces that come in contact with food. My big scrapple pot stirring paddles, cutting boards, wood handled kitchen/butcher knives.

Eh...wot?

Mineral oil and bees wax . my formula is 6 ozs of mineral oil and 10 rounded teaspoons of beeswax pellets , mix together and heat it up and this will melt the beeswax into the mineral oil then let it cool and you will have a paste wax.

if it is for a butcher block I agree with mineral oil, but if it for a bar top, they make a clear epoxy for that purpose.

For a bar top you don't want mineral oil and bees wax. The wood will dry out if you don't reapply often, like every other week, and you will constantly be sanding out spills and rings from beer cans left to sit overnight.

This is what you want. Nothing else.
