I have been out of snow country for quite a few years. I just got an invite to hunt in the Adirondacks in late November. The camp is about 10 miles from maintained roads via logging roads. I will want to get out on a certain date for other obligations. What do you recommend I carry in my 4wd pickup? I am thinking bow saw or chainsaw, tow straps/chains, hand winch, all of which I already own. I plan on buying a scoop shovel to help me dig out if necessary, and thinking about buying tire chains.
Any advice on the tire chains? What else should I think about?

Food, water, boots, hat, gloves, snow shoes, fire starter, dry fuel for starting fire, flash light, ax, another gun and ammo tarp, extra gas and oil. When things go wrong you never have enough. JMO

My own opinion - a good SSB Single Side Band CB radio - because there is no better means of communication, as the skip qualities of 11 meter [27 mhz..] is beyond belief.

I've heard calls for help on ch 9 AM come in my base station at home - E.Derby CT - from Storm King Mountain N.Y. when a motorist called in a distress call during a real bad snow storm.

Someone will hear you, and even if you can't hear them - if they know where you are, they could be the link you need to get help, especially if the operator is a member of REACT which is a volunteer emergency monitoring service that is nationwide.

I'm very partial towards Uniden/Bearcat, my vehicles have always had an SSB radio in them since the late 1990s

I'm not sure about what you are calling a "scoop shovel", but a long handled coal shovel is really what you want. If you have one, perhaps a high-lift jack might be useful too...

The small little lithium battery jump packs are smart and can be had for $75-100 and unlike a full size car battery, will fit under the seat along with a slime patch kit/mini-compressor totally out of the way. Just make sure it's sized right for the size of vehicle you're using. It can be a real pain to realize your battery died way back in on a remote logging road (speaking from experience)

shovel, axe, handyman jack, air compressor, tire plugs, box of tools with wrenches socket set pliers a coil of wire, black tape, allen wrenches screwdrivers test light. spare serpentine belt and spare tire spare battery. ( boat battery does double duty for this). duct tape, bag of tire chains. (one for each tire) a couple 20 foot chains with hooks on the end. 5-6 mre's. I keep a mapp gas torch in mine but at the least some storm proof matches. both is better. complete change of dry clothes. blanket, couple flashlights. should have a good pocket knife in your pocket. don't forget some toilet paper and a couple gallon jugs of water. that stuff sounds like a lot but every one of those things has saved my bacon more than once and doesn't take up a lot of room. You will be able to rescue yourself most of the time and if not those MRE's will keep you going while you wait for the storm to blow through or whatever.

All of the above, don't forget snacks first aid kit, axe, can't stress extra dry clothes enough, extra lighters flashlight batteries

Just get a Toyota Tacoma. Throw a chain, come-a-long, axe, and some crackers, for a little extra weight. You won't need the equipment.

Fire extinguisher, first aid kit, road flares (they work great for starting fires too).

I've been in the Adirondacks in late November when a big storm blew in. Bad as anything I ever saw in wy. If your ten miles from the road it aint no joke. Only a fool would try and walk out before the weather lays. 10 miles can be a looooooooooong ways.

If it is storming, I’ll wait it out in camp.
I am most concerned about getting stuck on deep snow, or sliding off the road.
I just ordered a set of tire chains. Most of the area doesn’t have cell service.

One thing I haven’t seen yet is trash bags works good for make shift ponchos but also you can use them for warmth if sleeping also, chicken grit or kitty litter for traction not just for your truck but you as well.

What on Earth is there to hunt in the Adirondacks worth all of that trouble? Come on down to Virginia. You are allowed to shoot more deer than three families can eat in a year. You will need a light jacket on most days, but you should bring an extra sweatshirt for underneath just in case.
