We have not missed an episode. I really like how the history is put together and how things evolved. Ken Burns does a very good job in putting his projects together. Many of the major stars had and have very serious behavioral issues and many times they were taken early by those demons. I have been to Nashville and toured Studio B, The CMA museum and the Johnny Cash museum. Interesting how musicians seem to work together and create great music but their fans work to divide . Cash and Dylan worked together quite a bit.

Absolutely! PBS news makes me sick but otherwise they have some great shows...actually watching country music now. I work with a lot of young people and end up listening to a lot of....garbage? Was at work and I put on Buck Owens “made in Japan” and a kid tried to tell me he was a one hit wonder. I’ll be 40 in December but I feel like I shoulda been born in 53.

I am not a fan of most country music but I did want to see this special. Ken Burns does a great job with the documentaries he produces.
There are many great shows on PBS.

Very good show. Yes, many of the country stars (and other genres) have serious issues. Some were taken, some made it. Sometimes it seems the more hardship they face, the better their music is. Watching where some of them were born and grew up makes me want to tell kids nowadays to shut up and quit whining.

Can't remember which lady said it, maybe Connie Smith, but "if you sing about what you're doing, it'll be country music." No higher message, no world changing lyrics, just real life. And every now and then, one of those real life sings can change the world.

Missed a few episodes, but love what I’ve seen. Sometimes it jumps around time wise and at one point seemed like a Johnny Cash special, but a good one none the less.

People in the 50's didn't t like the "new" country then either, they were fans of the 20's and 30's.

But, I'm with you. This whole "bro" and rap country movement sucks.

Caught the episode Las night. I've missed every episode so far.

I kept thinking man, Jennings was a rebel in the country world.

not yet, but plan to at some point - have heard good things about it. Burns usually does a pretty good job

Saw Waylon in 74,he opened for Roger Mcguinn. Quite the show. Mcguinn and the Byrds, were the first rock group to play the opry.
Both put on great shows.
