OK I am a little old fashion. I have a maybe 20 year old slide phone that I use occasionally, it goes a month without use at times. Now It will not have service after December. Service is being discontinued at that time. I have a lot of minutes (2000 maybe) left on the track phone card and maybe two months of time. What phone will work with the onxhunt chip and the track phone system of paying. Do you all recommend this kind of phone with that payment system or with the chip. I will probably go with what ever you guys recommend the most........jk

Buy a new smartphone either a iPhone or a Samsung and then pay the $29.99 for the onx app and you will be good to go. Cant believe how awesome onx is and the doors that it has opened for access. I use it all the time trapping and elk hunting

I use ON X Hunt constantly while trapping. I view it on an I-pad. The larger the screen the better. I personally would not want to fool with it on a small screen. It’s a great tool.

When I elk hunt I download a map of the area I am hunting. Then when I am hunting, which there is no cell coverage, I just tap on my map of the area and hit offline and it switches over to satellite. It tells me exactly where I am at as a blue dot. It could save a persons life if they got turned around. I also switch my phonekover to airplane mode and the battery would last for days.

The Onx Hunt chip is only needed with a (non-phone) GPS. The Onx Hunt on-line feature provides the same information and works on any device that accesses the internet. In the case of a smartphone, which also includes a GPS function, it will work the same as a handheld GPS with chip showing your location on a downloaded map. Because the phone GPS signal is off satellite vs cell phone tower, you do not need cell service for the GPS/Onx Hunt feature to work on your phone
