I don't remember asking. Out of curiosity, does anyone use moles for predator bait? I've trapped plenty this year, and got to thinking that maybe some folks have tried them for bait.
I know Trapper Art uses pocket gophers for bait.

From my experience moles are like a bullsnake they must have an odor that repels predators. Throwing out moles and gophers together animals will pick the gophers out pretty quick and moles will just rot away.

I have made mole bait years back when I was catching several hundred a month. I did catch predators with them at the time just out of curiosity to see how it would fare. I ground them and added some glycerin just for paste like consistency.

I believe moles are more of a toy to yotes versus a steady food source

I agree Tony, I have found my share of dead wet looking moles over my lifetime while out on the line. I believe they provide a torture toy to predators. My dogs toy with them as well on our place when they dig them up. We have lots of moles in my area.

For some reason I think that moles secrete some sort of toxin that doesn't taste to good. I think animals mainly just carry them around. My fur buyer used to buy mole skins, stretched them on cardboard like a small beaver. They bite.
