can't see it

whats the thought?

its been a while, but if remember correctly, copper sulfate dissolved in water, when applied to steel will leave a very thin coating of copper on the iron.
not sure thats beneficial to trapping

It does give a nearly instant dark coating to traps and snares from the videos I've seen on it.

I think of copper as a mineral, does it entice an animal to lick the trap? I do know copper sulfate sticks to plastic quite well.

The thought would be no need to rust and boil. Instant finish without hours spent dying. Seems to draw the copper out of the solution and bond a layer to the metal. What I don’t know is what kind of bond are we talking about?Something has to be essentially consumed in the chemical bond, so is it a stable bond or does it keep consuming the steel over time (corrosive)? Would it be durable or like you say, would it dissolve when wet? I don’t think odor would be a problem because copper itself shouldn’t have a smell.

The copper replaces the steel, so there is a net loss of iron, but probably not enough to worry about.

I imagine it’s the same as the copper coating you see on knives sometimes. Just an extremely thin layer of copper over the steel.
