Me and some of my buddies have been trapping bears here in Maine for about 20 years. One of my buddies is a Maine guide and is willing to take 1-3 guys this year if there is any intrest. The best trapping will be from now through 3 ed week in Oct if they are not dened up by then. If any of you are interested just shoot me a PM. grin
We normally have the best success with blind trail sets. Between me and my buddies we have all of the snares needed

We were sitting around the other evening talking about how lucky we are to be able to trap bear and thought others may be interested. So here is your "short notice" opportunity.

I should mention that its also hound season and we are allowed two bear in Maine one trapping and one hunting so it would be possible to get two as there are alot of houndsmen in this area as well.

A few years ago I tried (on this site) to get four people to go to Maine with me for a bear trapping expedition. I had an outfitter that offered a really good deal if we brought four people. I had almost no interest.

I would love to do it and would do an article for a couple magazines including Bear Hunting Magazine and Predator Xtreme Magazine.

Maine is a long ways from here but it's something I have always wanted to do.

A little more notice and I would be interested. Maybe in a year or two for me.

BernieB, you could swing through WI on your way out and we could meet up.

Last time I went to Maine I flew. I shot a bear with hounds and then I trapped three and lost all three (pulled out). Really want to try this again.

I'd love to plan a trip, but it isn't going to happen this year.

You say your friend is a guide, would he be charging a guide fee? What about lodging? Lobsters smile?

Wish it wasn't a 30-hour drive! I would get in the truck and go right now.

Just curious, how did they pull out? small bears? We do set the stop kind of big to allow the little bears to slip out. We have snared more than a dozen in the past few years and none ever pulled out.

Once we figured it out, this:

Turned into this:

We only snare on active baits.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....
