Got a nice antelope on opening day in area 57. Out near Rawlings I believe. We drove in about 45 miles into that area and got two goats. My buddy got one too. I had my 7mm mag and a range finder on hand and shot this one at about 50 yards!! Heck of a shot!! lol Almost drove right up to him. I was expecting to do some long distance shooting but I aint complaining. Hunting in Wyoming is certainly different than here in PA. Looking forward to hanging this on my wall. I really like Wyoming, it is a beautiful state. Although not in Wyo. I also visited Garden Of the Gods park And the Cliff dwellers site in Colorado. Went to Top Golf too. Cool places to visit. Ken

Great goat. Good job. I’ve hunted sage grouse in that area.

Antelope is some of the finest eating around, unless you take one that has been running. Bed down a herd in the evening and then approach from the east as the sun rises and get into position before they stand to start the day. Get them skinned and cooled quick as you can.

goldnut; You have a very nice buck there.

Nice tall horned buck. I leave tomorrow to DIY hunt in 103 where the season opens on the 5th.

I've taken and eaten black bear, antelope, elk, and deer. Of all of them antelope is what both I and the wife like the best (and bear the least). I've taken 2 antelope and both were cooled down soon after being shot and were delicious. Last year I shot one in a walk-in area about 3/4 mile off the road. After field dressing I walked out and came back with a game cart and a bag of ice so that within 40 minutes of field dressing I had ice on the meat. Once back at the truck I broke it down and put it in a cooler with more ice. Hope to do about the same thing this year.

It's my favorite big game animal for eating. It does have a distinct flavor and it seems people either love it or hate it.

In our family elk is #1 but antelope is a close #2 with deer a distant 3rd. We try to do our killing on opening morning and most of the antelope we tag were munching on something or lounging shortly before they died.

Nice ram!

Most of the hunted game animals in Africa are antelope of one species or another, and there they call males "rams," not "bucks."

North American antelope are a species I've always wanted to hunt.

Best eating game meat, imho, is mountain sheep, followed closely by moose and elk.

Worst game meat I ever ate was from a mountain goat I shot. It smelled horrible and tasted worse.
