At what point did getting a haircut become a day long affair? I walked out after 25-30 minutes of waiting. Chairs full, nobody waiting ahead of me, and everyone was already underway when I walked in. Now I know why they call for 35 minutes on a cut, and why they charge 50% more... they can't make money at normal rate for as slow as they go.

Whatever happened to the corner barbers who used to get you in and out in 10?

That's back when MEN got haircuts, nowadays pretty boys get their hair styled.

My wife does mine, 15 minutes, high and tight. All done.

I don't know. I've been cutting my own for 20 years now. I cut the boys too. Wife won't let me do hers.

I get a great cut from a super hot 55 year old blonde gal for 15 euros. No complaints here.

My wife gives me a clean up now and then.

Sounds like you need to find another barber.

Good luck.

Pete

A cheap convenient way is a dog sheers or sheep sheer. I was doing the same thing you are going and finally got tired of it. I don't waste one minute now while the sun shines trying to get a cut.

Buzz cut. No maintenance. grin

When I was In the Corps and stationed In the Philippians we got our hair cut twice a week I'm not sure how much It cost but the barbers were all top less ands they were women.

Back here at Fantastic Cuts It cost you $8.00 if your a vet.

My wife used to cut mine but never liked it. She'd make a square cut around my ears even though I'd always remind her that ears are round, not square.

I do my own now.

Eh...wot?

all the barbers around here retired or work 10am to 3pm , I got tired of waiting or trying to go on a day I had off work.

got a young girl 21 by appointment she has been cutting my hair now for 2 years , the price did go up recently from 15 to 20 dollars but it was up to 14 at the barber and now I don't wait an hour plus before 15-20 minutes in the chair, had to train her a bit at first she was fresh out of school and they din't cover much at all on mens hair cuts from the sound of it but she was a quick learner.

at some point change is inevitable

my dad goes to a place that does mens haircuts on Tuesday night the ladies don't book any women after 4 then they stay open till 9 just doing mens hair cuts , the bar next door has a connecting door through the back and the waitress from the bar brings your beer over so you can drink it while you wait.

growing up my neighbor was the barber in town he started cutting hair in the army I think WWII , so you could get any hair cut you wanted as long as it was short or shorter.

I get a haircut every 4 weeks, it takes 15-20 minutes and the cost is $10.00 and I always tip at 20%.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

When I was in high school, a new "hair salon" opened up but they did men's hair too. The girls were just out of cosmetology school and pretty cute. It was kind of fun having a hot girl walk around you for 10 minutes messing with your hair.

It's now more than 30 years later and the same girls still work there. Not as fun anymore.

For the last several years I've cut my own using a Flowbee. You can still buy them, attaches to the vacuum cleaner. I never have to make an appointment, never have to wait in a chair, don't have to drive home with itchy hair in my shirt collar. When It's time for a haircut, I get out the vacuum and give myself a haircut.

Diane or I just cut my hair with a hair clipper with the guide comb off. I then frequently shave it all the way off with a razor. It takes around 3 minutes to cut my hair. My hair is usually to short to pinch. If it gets about half an inch long, I tell Diane it's time for a hair cut because I look like a dam, dirty hippie.

I do have about a 3 inch goatee and mustache.

Ours retired and nobody replaced him so you have to go to the Hairdresser now to get clipped.

In 1965 I was in high school ROTC and got my first barber shop hair cuts, I timed old Royce one day when the shop was full and I had to wait, he averaged just under three minutes per head, with stanky perfume and all, for a dollar, Last time I was crazy enough to go into a shop for a hair cut it was about 40 minutes of the cutting a bit and changing blades or clippers and doing it again and again, bad haircut was $28 must be 15 years ago now and I've cut my own since.
This reminds me of Ray Stevens " "I'm a logger - just up from Coos Bay, Oregon..."

It takes about 15 minutes for my barber once I get in the chair. He cuts my hair then tilts the chair back and gets out the hot towels and straight razor. Nothing like a real shave. He is a fairly younger guy also. Said he has no idea why other barbers dont use a straight razor. Said they teach them all at barber college.
