Well guys I got moved over to my factories maintenance crew as the new welder gotta say it's pretty cool,I even got a whole area to myself. Problem is the guys before me either didn't care or didn't know what they where doing because they left the place a dang mess and most of the tools or machines are messed up or missing parts ( or just covered in a thick layer of dust and spider webs). On the bright side spool gun that works , well kinda lol , it's missing a part or two I think and likes to back lash if I tilt the gun a bit to much or even when I'm just dey testing it. Seems to happen on about every wire setting I've tried to so far.. But apart from that it works pretty good and I think my welds are decent for never welding aluminum or using a spool gun before.. Was patching up a couple broken welds on a door buggy today.

Gonna talk to my supervisor again to see about getting a new spool gun and TIG torch set up ,or atleast some stainless steel brushes lol.

Stainless brush is your friend on welding aluminum. Use it ONLY on the aluminum. Cleanliness is paramount to welding aluminum. Alternate the starts and stops will make it more even as well as stronger. Some spool guns are push pulls there is a variable speed adjustment on the bottom of the handle. You can adjust tension on the wire as well. Burn backs into the tip are frustrating.

Congrats Wolfie. Your on the right track and working for someone else keeping a clean work area speaks volumes to the boss. Shows you care for his equipment and attention to detail.
