Lancaster County, about 45 minutes southeast of me, is the birthplace of the Pennsylvania Long Riffle.

Well growing up I lived in Nevada. I learned to trap in the same mountains Claude Dallas shot them game warden in. Now I live in Montana. There’s a pile of rocks that if you hit them with a hammer they ring like bells, each rock has a different tone. I now trap in areas that Lewis and Clark probably camped.

Missouri is "The Show Me State" but is lesser known as "The Cave State" with over 6300 recorded caves, and growing. I seem to stumble onto a cave or 2 almost every trapping season Here's a cave opening from one I found last year

The southernmost point in Ontario (very near where I live) is on the same latitude as northern California. In fact, I need to go north to cross into the USA from where I live. Beaver were extirpated from the area over 100 years ago but have started reappearing within the last 10 years or so. When I was a kid in the 80's, you could stand on Windsor's riverfront on Devil's Night and watch Detroit burn (yep, we actually did this)
Just happy to be here.

Licking County, Ohio … Rolling hills in half of the county and the almost table top flat in the rest. Laced with small streams to larger creeks and small rivers and one of the states oldest water impoundment oo the southern side, Buckeye Lake. In my younger years the trapping very good and furbearers we abundant. Large corporate farms have bought a considerable amount of the county, cities and towns have spread across large section of the county.
The small streams that use to provide an easy 125 muskrats, might provide 15 or 20. Mink always have been few and far in between are still that way. Fox of both types, that were very abundant, are now rare. Streams in the eastern part of county produce a number of beaver and otter. They seldom , but occasionally move westward into streams. Coon and coyotes have taken over the majority of the county. Deer are still prevalent, but down because of special kill permits, in off season, to mostly corporate farmers. Fox and grey squirrel are still present, with Fox squirrels located now in few areas. Good rabbit hunting went with the establishment of large corporate farms. Fishing is like every other wildlife species, there but limited.

Kalamazoo was the home of public tax funds for schools .
A landmark legal decision in American education handed down by the Michigan Supreme Court in 1874 as the result of a case that originated in Kalamazoo determined that school boards could use tax dollars to fund high schools. “That became known as The Kalamazoo Case and it was cited … in many other states as a precedent for people to be able to (levy a) tax for a high school,” said Michigan historian Larry Massie, of Allegan.
“The Kalamazoo Case established the legality of support for high schools from public funds,” is how the Michigan Education Journal put it in a November 1939 article titled, “High Schools for All.” This may have ended the school thru 8th grade practiced in the early 1900's.
I still have my fathers 8th grade Diploma and an application for tuition, if High School was desired. Issued in Grand Traverse County.

Missouri is the birthplace of Jessie James, he was born about 40 min south of where I live The pony express starting point was in St Joseph Mo which is about 30 miles west of me
