I am coming home from park city Utah on the way to bemidji mn, if I drive through Jackson hole Wyoming on hwy 191 and through Yellowstone on hwy 14. Will that be a normal highway speed route or will it be bogged down with traffic or sightseers?

My boy wants to get home as fast as possible and wants to bypass and I would like to see the drive but also want to get home? We would be fine if it was only adding a couple hours to trip but if it adds more I know he will want to hurry home

Will it be a real scenic drive?

Through Yellowstone 2 lane traffic at 35-45 mph depending on tourists. Will be slow, but a pretty drive.

If you go through the park you have a slower speed limit I think it's close to 45 mph but I'm not 100% sure on that .
As for tourist traffic it should slow down by now but there's going to be some archery hunters around the park and fishermen in the park filling in the blanks . With that being said a trip through Yellowstone NP is worth it there should be a lot of wildlife to see and some great landscapes to look at .

If you have never been there and are that close....GO! I doubt you could drive through there in a couple of hours any day.

Google maps say it’s 2 hours longer but only 60 more miles so I wonder if they calacuate the slower hey speeds or not?

If you go through Jackson hole I believe you also have to go through grand Teton national park. The fee to enter the park is different then the Yellowstone park fee unless you purchase the annual pass. We were there July 2018 went to Yellowstone and decided to grand Teton, had lunch in Jackson I believe only to find out we had to pay to get back to Yellowstone $35 if I remember correctly.

South paw

I see that now, so 70 bucks just to drive through them for a couple hours. That stinks

It’s a magical place! Way less traffic this time of year...but you can’t drive thru in 2 hrs. By all means go, but when you can stop and smell the moose turds a bit.

Traffic through Jellystone will be down quite a bit. Elk are in the rut which would be fun to see if you haven't seen before, especially around Mamouth.

We were in Yellowstone back in August, a seven day pass was $35 but can’t remember if they had a daily fee. The speed limit throughout the park is 45 mph max ! We were there same time that all of Asia was on vacation , probably averaged about 20 to 25 mph. Out of the three days we were there it was at least a 4 hour trip to get through the park , and we never went south of old faithful.

Hope that helps, but I would not go through Yellowstone on a time crunch. In my opinion the place demands your full attention !

Exit Park at the East gate to drive to Cody and points beyond. Good museum in Cody worth stopping for.

I've never heard of such a thing. Is this something new?
It has been for years that when you pay to get in Yellowstone it's good for Tetons. If you come in from Jackson you pay to get into Teton NP and it good for Yellowstone NP. The entry fee is good for 3 days the last I heard. (used to be 9 days before this last price raise) . SAVE YOUR TICKET STUB !!!!!!
The speed limit is 45 mph in the park

Yellow stone in August this year was one colossal traffic jam. It can take hours to go even a short distance. I've been there 15 times or more but my wife and I decided we are never going back.

Yellowstone and Teton are separate entry fees now. It happened just before we were there in 2018. No longer good for both.

Yellowstone is run by the UN. Grand Tetons are still USA run last time I checked.

Yellowstone is a National Park. Not sure where the UN comes in? Like other national parks, their concessions are put out for bid on a cycle.

Wife and I have America the Beautiful passes that grant free or reduced entry to most National Parks, Monmuments,BLM, etc. A great deal for anyone over 60, I think. Been a while. Only one member of the family needs to have the pass for a car to enter the gate.
