Just saw on the news Scotland has just passed a law making spanking or even slapping a child on the hand to be against the law and the person doing it can be arrested and fined or jailed this law covers parents as well as strangers. What do you guys think?

I wish I was in school today, with time out. I could get a lot of hunting and fishing in. If I missed a day of school I had one teacher ask how the hunt went and if I got any sqrs. Without discipline you are on a slippery slope, just look at a lot of our kids today, they have slipped a long way. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of good kids today, but just look at the data of kids 10 years old being put in jail for killings, robbery's B&E's it is socking!

Until children are old enough to have empathy with their parents and siblings, the only effective way to punish them is physically.

There is a huge difference between appropriately spanking a child and abusing a child. Liberals fail to understand the difference.

I have 3 kids ages 5,7, and 9. I promise you I'd be in jail because I don't spare the rod if one of mine need it. Fortunately they are good kids and don't have to be corrected much but when they do it's my parental obligation to do it. We also take privileges away but sometimes I think busting their butts is the best

the best thing about a sound spanking is you almost never need to repeat it. 3 year old doesn't understand about not running into the street but they do understand a good spanking will result if it repeats. they don't have to understand why.

It is a sad state of affairs when in this country one can kill an unborn child but go to jail for spanking one.

I was spanked when I was young and have thanked my mother for doing it. I maybe spanked my boys maybe twice. They are 24 and 19 now and it drives them nuts when kids don't mind their parents. I have been told we did a great job raising our boys. I am blessed. Kids need to be disciplined, they yurn for it.

Here's the whole truth of the matter. You can either discipline your child, or someone else will!

And I can promise you, you'll not like my form of discipline when I catch him sneaking through my window at 3 AM!

I try my best to find other ways to go about it, but sometimes a spanking is called for. But the boundaries have to be clear, they get ample warning. They know that the consequences of X action will be a spanking

momma had control... if someone outta 5 of us was outta line ya had to go get chair pull ya pants down and bend over.... rest of kids had to watch... couldnt laugh this was serious . razor strap was wide made lotta noise stung but not for long...i always laughed seeing my siblins gettin whupped so it was run the kids through the whuppin line
