Got a customer at my work who knows I trap and has a skunk on his property. Being as I don't have any cage traps, will a skunk reach in a dog proof? The other option is to set out some Bridger 1.5s as the guy doesn't have any animals but his neighbors do have dogs that wander, so I'd be hesitant to do that. Is it worthwhile to set out DPs for skunks?

Eric -
Make a quick 120 or 220 plywood box with cut-outs on the sides for the springs. Make the box at least 18" long and recess the BG to near the end with the bait. Keeps dogs from getting caught and whacks striped skunks nicely. That's what I'd do, anyway. I suspect Law-Dog or others will chime in with good info.

I catch 10-20 a year in DP’s. Just catfish food with a bit of powdered sugar.
Everything the left touches it destroys

Thanks guys. Jack, I like that Idea a lot. Do they typically spray with that BG box setup? Would be nice to harvest the essence.

Yes you can trap them in a DP. But Remember after you dispatch it make sure it's dead. I found out the hard way last year. Wife was not happy with me Sounds like there’s a story here!

Jerry, I've been pinching those pennies so hard recently you'd think I was a crawdad.

Make yourself a wooden box trap with a guillotine type drop door and foot treadle. drill a couple of holes in the end for ventilation to carry the bait scent.

Well I can say with certainty you guys were right. Checked the sets today on my lunch break and had a skunk caught in a DP on dog kibble, fish oil and Caven's moonshine lure.
