Spanking is just another tool in the arsenal of parenthood. May not have to use with every child, but shouldn't be neglected if needed.

And while you spend your life in jail they probably will dictate how your kid is raised.

Oddly enough, almost every parent I have ever spoken to has raised perfect angels. Must be a parent thing.

Spanking is what most of today's liberals have never received. Kid's nowadays have no idea that there are consequences for bad behavior, or bad actions. Spankings or a good butt whoopin' are needed to show kids what is acceptable, or what is polite. Grandma broke plenty of spatulas on us and we never didn't deserve it.

That’s when the government needs a spanking.

I raised three girls. I never spanked them and I don't think my wife ever did either. There was plenty of discipline, mostly in the form of increased chores, loss of privileges or time outs. All three are now well-adjusted, hard-working, productive adults. One is a foreign service officer, another a manager at a local bank and the third has a management position at a local mill work company. I don't think spanking would have had any benefit, in fact I believe it may have been a detriment in their upbringing.

My granddaughter lives with me since the death of her father when she was a baby. We apply the same principles of no corporal punishment to her. One of her regular chores is gathering chicken eggs once a day. She didn't like doing it and would handle the eggs roughly usually managing to crack one or two. Her hope was that we would stop having her do the chore to avoid cracked eggs. We instituted a policy of one day's loss of internet and television privileges for each cracked egg. we haven't had a broken egg in years.

I'm beginning to understand boys are a bit different. My two-year-old grandson is about as ornery as it gets. He purposely does stuff he knows is going to get him spanked! He loves to throw his toys in the dog's water bowl. We will see him heading in that direction and yell NO as his mom rushes over. He'll hurry to toss the toy in before she gets there then he'll cringe against the smack on the butt he knows is coming. LOL

I was the youngest of 4 hard charging 50's and 60's country boys. My Momma took spanking to a higher art form, swear she twirled the strop overhead every third stroke. That said I and my brothers earned every single one of them whoopins, we deserved more had we not snuck by on a few. Now Pa's whoopins were few and far between, saved for high crimes, treason and such. Pa's whoopins stayed with you a while. I regret none, and deserved all. Pa said, it will quit hurting when the pain goes away.... I might be alright 56 years later, not sure. I married a fireball with a hard punch, she keeps me close to the line, her and Momma talked, I think.

I don't remember the event, just the story. When I was little I bit my mother once, she bit me back. Problem solved, no more biting. I preferred a wooping as punishment, five minutes later I was on my way back to doing whatever. It was a sad day when they figured out taking away privileges was much more effective. So in my case it seems Keith has correct. And as for the govt, saying how a parent should discipline there children I say pssss off.
