I hate deer and horse flies. When one gets you in his sights, it can only end one of two ways....you kill it or it bites you. It’s not going to give up or go away. I drove the truck through an overgrown field the other evening, there were 100s of them banging on the windows.

I’d rather get stung by a dozen of my honeybees than get bit by a big deer or horsefly.

He then sprayed the plastic flower pot with tanglefoot. He attached the rig to his bike and could ride at a leisurely pace without getting mugged by the deer flies.
He could then enjoy riding his bike in the afternoons without getting attacked because the flies went after the blue flower pot and got stuck in the tanglefoot adhesive.
I had not seen any use for going to Maine or Canada if I had to do all that stuff, I have the state bird called the saltwater mosquito here anyway.

Tanglefoot is the real deal, as is the color blue

Instead of deer fly patches, buy tanglefoot and some blue plastic beer cups. Deer flies always land on the highest point first. If you are in the garden, etc, wear a hard hat, or other hat, and tape a beer cup to the top of it. Slather it with some tanglefoot, and it is like a deer fly target. Throw it away after. Cheaper than deer fly patches...you just look kind of stupid.

I like that idea hutchy.

I was just up in the bwca and dogs head looked like that. I put a net over camp and canoe when I could but portages were worse than I’ve seen.
