That’s what I’ve been wearing for the last 20 years....

Lots of very good feedback recently on another website from serious water trappers on the Dan's waders. If I was looking for hip boots I would look into them as well before deciding on what to buy.

Are the Dan Waders a hip boot or just a chap that goes over the boot?

Are the Lacross boots held up with straps that go around your belt? Maybe a foolish question but it is not clear how they are held up in their advertising? Thanks for the help in answering

The water proof chaps are attached to the boots with a waterproof seam. No water gets in them, unless its over the top of the chaps. The chaps are much more durable than the rubber uppers on the LaCrosse according to the reports. And these reports are from guys who know a lot about water trapping.

Just picked up a new pair of LaCrosse insulated hip boots this summer. They have shoestring ties at the top. The couple times I've worn them to try them out, I don't need to tie them, they stay up by themselves. I'm 5"8" and they come ALL the way up my inseam, almost uncomfortably so.

When these wear out I think I will check out the Dan's.

La Crosse hip boots USED TO BE worth buying, that is, before they shipped production overseas. Now it's a crap shoot whether the pair you buy will hold up to your standards necessary on the trapline. That being said, I still buy em.

I wear the Big Chief 600s. I have wore the trapline and they are more stiff than the Chiefs and I prefer the cleats over the soles of the trapline. LLL

Read the directions- when you purchase boots
Trim off crotch area
Trim top of Yellow crotch inseam to upper Yellow seam

Pic below- cut along top of Yellow seam for more comfortable fitting crotch (for us shorter than 6' guys)
Follow crotch seam line. It's clearly marked.
Leave Yellow seam on

I got a pair last year. Helpful tip: Get that rubber conditioner they sell. You might say... $15 or whatever.. I just paid a ton of money for boots, I don't need this.

But you'll see... after the first season if you spray this on them and wait 24 hours, they'll look shiny and good as new again.

Read instructions? I'll have to dig the box out and look for them. Thanks for the headsup.

LOL. Just take my instructions. Cut out thatthere crotch area, leaving yellow seam on, meeting with upper yellow seam.
I see folks wearing these hip boots that need the crotch area cut out.
I purchased a pair many years ago and happen to read the instructions. After testing them, I needed to trim out crotch.
Hope this 'tip' helps folks out.

I've been "folding" the tops down to put them on only. I take them off without folding the tops down and store them hanging upside down.

During season, I'll keep them in the truck, laid out full length.

You have to cut the boot itself? Where the yellow drops at the top of the boot? If you cut it will the boot fray? Hard to understand with not having the boot in your hands
