Assumption has me scratching my head.

I ordered two dozen HAGz brackets and two dozen fiberglass rods to go after some rats this year, and I planned on wackin and stackin... however, I have two traps that fit the slots. I was planning on using some #1 longsprings and #2 dbls- the traps won’t fire because of the pan is stopped by the bracket. This is due to the shortness of the traps base that is inserted in the bracket. Is anyone aware of a product that is similar to the PIT baseplate that crimps on to the traps cross-frame and extends the base?

I found a few of my traps like that and believe the older traps work better. It looks to me like the newer traps have shortened the cross member perhaps to cut back on cost's. I ended up tack welding a short extension onto some to make them work.

Have you tried bending the frame down? Other fix us shorting the pan notch as your pan is moving too much.

I like a #2 square jaw Victors with the hagz brackets on a fiberglass pole. Some traps fit better than others. I also have some Diamond #1's and 1.5 longs that I use with the brackets. On my fiberglass poles, I glued a 3/4" piece of rubber hose about 8"-10" from the bottom. That keeps the trap from sliding off into the water when pulling the stake.

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!
