I've used waxed belisle 120s with no problems. Do waxed belisle 280 and 330 work ok or do they fire on their own? I'm a little leery!

I'm a LOT leery! I speed dip mine. They fire just fine.

Hit the notch and dog with a propane torch to burn off any wax, otherwise your just asking for it!

Wax the springs and the ends no need to do the cross fames.

No waxing necessary, but if you do wax just scrape the dog and bar your latching to with a pocket knife before setting and be careful.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Wax the springs and the ends no need to do the cross fames. Listen to this guy ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I've done this to my body grips and I like it. It lubricates the trap and it fires like lightening. I painted the jaws and did just like Law Dog said. Works great and no more dangerous than an unwaxed body grip.

drasselt, quit causing problems. He knows more about trapping than most on here realize. I wasn't trying to stir the pot but what the hey lol. I've always speed dipped my body grippers and that was ok but I was looking for something better. Maybe it was Boco, or somebody else, but there was some discussion that waxed belisles did not misperform like other body grippers so I waxed one of my belisle 120s to test it and it worked just fine, no dry firing, so I waxed them all and used them with no problems. I guess it has to do with the thin dog, etc? I don't know. I got 2 good seasons out of the wax job and winged it last year but I'm going to rewax the 120's this year they're getting a little rusty now. But now I'm looking at the bigger belisles and wondering about waxing them too. The main reason is to prevent rust stained fur but also enhanced performance. I like Paul's suggestion to paint the jaws and wax just the moving parts.
