as of this morning I am debt free except mortgage. It has been a long battle to get to this point. I had 2 small cc balances and decided to pay them off.

My house is on the market. I am looking into land (0.5-1+ acres) and possibly building a house. Thinking prefab. In the areas I am looking I will have to have septic and well. Other areas in the country around here for my price range would require a lot of work which I really don't want since I just spent about 7 months working on my house to get it in a better marketable condition.

Ain’t it funny how we work on things to improve them before we try and sell them.

Thanks.
Goldnut, I bet you were really excited when you wrote that check.
Bow, it sure is. Gotta get the best ROI possible. I think it's worth it.

Great job! We are working on that ourselves. We have 10k left on a pickup and we will be done other than the mortgage. Once we’re debt free and have an emergency fund I’m leaving the oilfield. Life’s too short to spend 70 hours a week doing work I don’t like

Thank you Bob. Awesome! Are you going to retire or just a different job? That's the reason I hung up my chef coat a long time ago

Great job. We have 5 years left on the house and 10 years left on about 500 acres. I can’t wait for the day when it’s all paid off. I’m a stupid farmer so I’ll probably incur more debt before I get those paid off. Congrats

I wish I could retire, but I’m only 31 soo better keep working. I’m just burnt out on the oilfield. I’ve been a roustabout for the last ten years, and yeah it pays good but it just ain’t worth it anymore. I’ve missed out on too much of my kids’ lives already in the name of a dollar, and I’m just not gonna do it anymore. We’re paying off our debt and learning to live on less so that I can watch the sun rise and set with my wife instead of my crew.

Stay focused, don't get sucked into the game. We sold our paid off house two years ago to move out to the country. I just paid that place off last month. I have zero debt. No cc bills, no auto payments, etc. Some would say I don't have the nicest things but they are paid for , they are mine, and it was all done with long hours of hard work and planning. I love it when someone with a new $40,000 truck and a house twice as big as they need , and a new boat, with a job that pays twice what I make, says " must be nice ". Remember, it's not getting what you want, it's wanting what you have.

Thanks everybody.
Bob getting time with your wife and kids back is priceless. It will be tight for a bit but stay focused.
I'm glad to hear so many on here are working towards being debt free. Take it one day & one debt at a time. If you can toss even an extra $50 to a bill like a car payment it will go a long way.
