I had someone tell me they spray chloroform at skunks to put them to sleep before injecting them with acetone. Apparently a bottle with a good nozzle will spray further than a broom handle used for injecting. I thought it was a cool idea but after looking online it appears chloroform has been banned since the 70s or something. Just wondered if anyone else has heard of this or knows of another product that might not necessarily be true chloroform that they might be using

Your going to have to get pretty close to be able to spray a skunk and be effective. Way to close In my opinion.

They banned using chloroform as anesthesia because the difference between a safe, effective dose and a killing dose is minuscule. To many patients were lost using chloroform as anesthesia.

Ether is safer to dose, but extremely flammable. Chloroform can actually be used to extinguish fires.

Starting fluid is mostly ether. I have friends, who used starting fluid to knock out baby skunks, so that they could de-scent them.

Do you know which auto store would carry unpressurized starting fluid? I think I've only seen it in a spray.

Was a pretty lengthy article in one of the trapping magazines (Fur takers? ) not long ago about using it on skunks. Apparently works very well for someone. Comstock comes to mind, but probably wrong.

I looked it up on Amazon. Looked like they shipped it just fine.

if skunks make you that nervous just shoot them. how do you plan to get enough fumes to knock a skunk out? when you get sprayed the world don't end. mix peroxide baking soda and a dab of dish soap together. kills the odor instantly. wont store. has to be used when you mix it up.

Pop the bottom of the can with a can opener, screwdriver, etc. Hold the can vertically, bottom uppermost. Little to none will spray out in the brief second before all pressure is lost. Then pour into your container of choice. Couldn't be simpler.

I did this with a paint can once when I was a kid...I ended up looking like an Easter egg!

most starting fluid sold today is garbage. to many dope fiends using it. if you want ether buy it online

I don’t know why people don’t want skunks spraying in their sets. Anytime I have a skunk stink up a catch circle it becomes a canine magnet.

The hard part about chloroform is the shipping. I have to drive almost 3 hours to pick it up. Shipping cost almost as much as the chloroform. See me at the NTA or the WTA conventions next year.
