I like deer skin gloves. comfortable to wear, thin and easy to use yet still keep my hands from getting raw setting traps all day and keep stickers of them. I bare hand bait and lure. can throw deer skin gloves in the washer. I don't use soap and let them air dry. put them on and they are a little shrunk and stiff but only a little. they come out of it with use real quick. I never noticed where new gloves hurt my catch any. I just rub my gloved hands together with some dirt on them. Clench my hand on a cedar bough and pull a couple times.

I use a new pair for a few days around the house getting stuff ready. Sorting traps, gathering supplies, loading truck, yard work, etc. just use them to wear off the new. Also I wear deerskin. Gloves stay on for the ride and the set. Pop one off to bait, glove back on and head out. I wear them for everything but baiting, fueling, and skinning. Skinning just because I like keeping most blood off them. I wear nitrile for that and keep my gloves inside the truck or my coat all season.

Thanks for all the input guys. I got a pair of cotton gloves from work and rubbed em through a bunch of dirt and dried up manure in one of the pastures I trap, figured that’ll do the trick. I opted to go on the extreme side with scent control this year. Punched in some sets today, cotton to set and handle equipment, swap to nitrile for baiting, when finished rub bare hands in dirt and sage, wipe down with baby wipe, repeat. I made all of the sets the location told me to and then swapped gloves and baited them, that way I didn’t have to swap gloves a million times, and didn’t risk contaminating the cotton gloves with bait. Not sure if the extra effort will make a difference but with today’s coyote prices if it nets even one extra yote it’ll be worth the time spent.

might be a little early. some might not grade heavy. on the plus side there are a lot of yoy out running around that are not near as cautious as the 1 1/2 year old and older coyotes.

It is a touch early, but deer rifle season opens next weekend and one of the ranches I trap is in the block management program so I want to get at least a couple out of there before the deer hunters have them all on high alert, or steal them. They’ll likely grade semi-heavy, but being in the region I’m in I still get good money for them. Last batch I sold averaged $90 and most of those were caught on the early side.

And you are telling me that doesn't make the cotton gloves smell like lure.

Yes. I think I probably wasn't clear enough how I personally do it. So I put on nitrile gloves then cotton gloves. Dig a hole and bed a trap. Or make a flat set/pee post with no scents and bed a trap. After each trap is bedded then I take off the cotton gloves and lure with those disposable nitrile gloves on, I put the disposable gloves in my pocket to throw away later. Then for the next set I put on another clean pair of nitrile gloves and then the cotton gloves over them. Basically I lure and/or bait last and after I lure and bait each set I dispose of the latex gloves.
