It came to recently removed nest (notice the mud). However, it doesn’t look like the type of bird that made the nest. Comes here every night and sleeps like that. I can get very close and make noise it does not care. I don’t know much about birds and can’t seem to find this particular bird on Google. Any ideas? Just curious.

Well it turns out it’s a Carolina Wren. Googled this bird and it turns out it’s commonly sleeping on covered porches just like mine lol

Where is Jonathan when you need him.
Bewick's wren would show a little white on the outer tail feathers.
Those white flecks sure show up with the flash
it is a juv so maybe that was the nest.

From my Dad's bird book it is common in your area year round. From the first photos did not see the face it was hard to match up what it was. then you show the other photos then it was easy to find out more about it .

Those are the most tolerant of human activity of any bird I know. They come into my garage every spring and yell at me for being in 'their' garage! They nest in a cardboard box on the top shelf above the work bench. I have to keep the garage door open a few inches at the bottom so that they can get in and out.
