Hello, All,

How do I determine what "section" a fur auction house will categorize my fur as. I have gone to both the NAFA and FHA websites and have yet to get any satisfaction to this question.

I am located and trap in the vicinity of Canadian, TX, so my fur will be from this area of the northern Texas Panhandle.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked out NAFA’s wild fur technical guide?

Go to this web site. https://www.nafa.ca/webcenter/portal/Auction/pages_wildfur/wildfur_home

Then click on Wild Fur Technical Guide.

This sectioning thing Is a mystery to most of us. ND rats are sectioned Central. But that depends on the rats themselves and how they are put up. Most of the rats I catch out there are sectioned eastern go figure. Then you can catch a beaver or even coon In WI and have them sectioned western. So I would take this sectioning thing with a grain of salt and not worry about It.

Ok. Thanks.

Probably best if there seems to be no predictable rhyme or reason.

It is quite obvious Beav has not watched the muskrat video and comprehended what it says.
But that is normal.

It Is what It Is.
So maybe you should step up and explain It to the OP.

I’ve sent cats to NAFA for many years and they always graded central and a few north central. Sent them to FHA this past year and they all graded southern.

The problem appears to be that the grading manuals are no longer on the website or more difficult to find? The muskrat grading manual would have given a better idea of muskrat sectioning. We will call it a rough process.

I got copies of some of these grading manuals, if you tell me what species you are concerned about, I may be able to help you out by typing the NAFA information.
