Always curious about the overseas auction houses. Always surprised how much fur they move every year.

Selling in Helsinki hasn't been too lucrative the last two years either. frown

Strange; 8.5 million is not down from the 8.5 million offered last year? confused

Pelt outs have to go somewhere. Plus saga is picking up more European and North American mink too.

I’m in a once mink ranch concentration of Wisconsin last year or two has several leaving the business. Kinda sad actually. Hope the industry recovers.

Don't worry nimzy the farms just get bigger that survive. The bad part is the big farms can sell mink cheaper. frown

Not so much. Mink are a high labor animal that no matter the state if the art machines available will always have a lot of hands on work to be done. What can be saved is money on feed volume. So the largest ranches can feed cheaper but will always have a high labor bill.

From what I have seen on the dairy farms in WI there is a way to cut labor costs Didn't say it was legal.

The fact that countries are banning ranching and others making it very difficult plays in as well. Much like trapping it lacks a young generation of ranchers. We are all dinosaurs I personally think it’s about over. The few big ones left will probably market directly to China. In twenty years the prospects of a fur business seems bleak. Hopefully I’m wrong
