Well I think it's definitely better than NAFA shuttering it's doors which was what sounded like the alternative.

Sounds like a one year agreement with NAFA hoping to somehow recover.

Without more details, who knows if SAGA didn't do this to shutter them?

Nafa spent all their money on printing "Top Lot" certificates and hats for all their customers.

"Ranch mink remains terminally depressed as price levels remain far below production costs and as predicted in our May 2018 report the fallout is dramatic as ranchers are pelting out in large numbers mostly across North America. It is questionable if 2 million mink will remain in North America next season."

FHA prediction March 2019

Watch to see if SAGA's offering moves up more than 2 million. They are already offering the same amount they offered last year.

SAGA is the NAFA of Europe, with a lot less wild fur, if any. From what I can gather they have only ever sold wild fur when FHA collaborated with them. In the short term what this means is the mink/fox farmers that owned NAFA get a lifeline.

SAGA only mentions mink "The agreement is expected to substantially increase Saga Furs’ volume of high quality mink in 2020."

This has absolutely nothing to do with the wild fur producers. Anyone heard anything through North American Wild Fur Shippers Council? Of course not!

NAFA/SAGA will probably sell wild fur this year but its a small piece of the pie for them.

Saying that hope they (SAGA/NAFA) continue to sell wild fur and give us more options as "independent producers" to get our furs to market.

Maybe not this year Dirt.

Just the way it's written has me thinking NAFA will have this year to sell, then it gets blurry.

Put it this way..... wouldn't be the first company I ever heard of getting a year to clean house before buyer shut their doors. Most by-outs are to acquire the customers.

Hope I'm wrong, but unless SAGA wants a footprint here that's my guess.

Sounds like everthing may be same for trappers shipping wild fur, just only thing different is in with saga furs, probly not make a bit difference to the trapper, I well call or email nafa in stoughton sometime in few wks an find out. If sounds like what I am thinking, I well ship to them

No bank in their right mind would lend them what they wanted for their mink ranchers. To high of a risk would be my guess.

With rats and coons , wild mink and reds the most common species for me to harvest and with very low prices for most of that fur this is not a bad time for me to continue to send a reasonable amount of my fur collection up to see how this works out.
I will contact our new route person to see how all this has or will impact them.
