I have done it for myself and friends with a Canon Handycam. Videos are OK but there are a lot better cameras to choose from.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping.
May I be half the man he was.

This was done with a GoPro. Obviously, it's not going to be as good of quality as other cameras. But if done right at close range, it's not terrible. There is no zoom, so I keep it on the "Narrow" setting. I got an attachment for my bow this year, so hopefully that will work better than this video at the point of kill. I was wearing the GoPro on my head, so when I shot it wasn't pointing at the deer.

There are lots of resources online to help you learn, do a search for self-filming and you'll come up with some stuff. First of all you need to understand that to produce good video it takes a financial commitment. You can start with a good used camera such as a Canon Vixia series for under $1000, then you'll probably want a go-pro for a second angle, and of course you will need a good tree arm such as the Fourth Arrow tree arm. A wireless mic system is about $250. You get the idea.

It takes time to get good video of a hunt and shoot some good B-roll/cutaways to edit in. Then of course you have to edit it.

If you really are serious about it I would encourage you to go for it, but it definitely makes hunting more work.
