Do trappers still use them for beaver and otter trapping? Seems like the large coil springs may have taken their place.

There are quite a few guys still using them here in Maine. I've got a few myself that I run on drowning rods.

yes i still use them on bait set under ice,

24coyotes,4 coon 3 grey fox,118muskrats,4 mink,6 fisher 23 beaver , 10 otter,4 bobcat

I use them and B&L 44’s where theft isn’t an issue.

I have nothing clever to put here.
