I have decided to try out the Bucket bait stations this season since I have heard good reviews about them but I am concerned about the raccoons getting smart after the first catch or two. I don't know if it is me or something I am doing I seem to hear from a lot of guys that multiple catches in one sight are not a problem but I have not found that to be the case. Seems like after the first animal tears the place up I never catch another one. Cage traps however I can put it back in the exact same spot and catch one after the other.

thank you in advance for the ideas

I put out bait stations every year, and multiple catches have never been a problem for me. Last year, I got a triple, a double, and a few singles out of a feeder before I pulled my traps. I don’t think raccoons will shy away after one is caught. I did notice however, that when still had bait in the feeder, many raccoons ignored my sets around it, especially if I was using a similar bait that I had in the feeder. Also, I try to use a louder lure to pull them over to my sets. Good luck!

I once set a marsh island with six buckets. Next morning I had five coons and a nutria. Bait was fresh tuna scraps. Why did the nutria enter the bucket?

I didn't think of the dif bait that's a good idea. How many days on average do you leave it before setting? I was thinking around 5

I usually put mine out a couple weeks before I plan on setting them.

i do triples all the time without bait stations....in ohio bait stations are asking for problems. Unless its only corn or things domestics wouldnt be too interested in. Remember all flesh baits must be covered.

Yeah that's what I'm planning to use. One of my farms is going to sell it to me at $4 per bushel
