Take a rake and level off an area big enough to make a set, pack it down with your feet. may have to haul some dirt to get the area level and higher than the surrounding area. Use your set of choice.
Common sense catches alot of fur.. Pay homage to all you harvest..

I got to trap fields for a few years when I was doing the government work. As a desert trapper was new to me.
I caught them in the rows where they were already making tracks, where they entered the field from their trails or road. Also the un cultivated intersections between the fields or anywhere an obstruction like standpipe caused veg to grow up.
When all else failed - white bird feathers would pull them from a great distance.

Had that happen myself, Mercer....more than once!
A good way to get their attention is to take a white five gallon bucket, dig a hole, put a goodly amout of bait or a dead skunk in the hole, cover with the bucket upside down. Do this in the normal locations that you would normally set, but put the bucket about ten to fifteen feet farther out in the field. Mound dirt up around the bucket, and stomp tight. You don't want anything getting to the bait. Thebucket is a contrast to the field of black dirt. Now make your sets, two to four in the area, from fifteen to thirty feet away. Works best using an old bucket with a crack in the bottom! The attraction is unusual but not unatural! It works! enjoy! Edit, don't cover the bucket clear up, you want the white to show as the contrast!

Big white cow skull. maybe with a tbone in front of it so it makes a sort of walk through. I would rather track em and see where they are coming and going and find a choke point or at least a condensed area of tracks and just set a dirthole amongst it.

Like possum said, I look for tracks, scat. Let them tell me where to set. I think I've shyed more yotes away from sets trying to make them to flashy. I now set to where the predominant wind will carry the scents, they'll find it.

If u ever have to walk out very far to a catch after rain in a plowed field you will change your mind pretty fast about such foolishness Amen to that.

What kind of plow was used? Moldboard or chisel? my apologies for not responding faster........I was at work and don't have a way of posting.......... I guess for both. I personally use pvc pipe or bring in a pile of straw and set it on fire....................but was wondering what ideas you fellas have used

Toss a couple traps with stakes near it then wait until the coyotes show you the steps to set those traps under. Won't take but a couple days. Open the carcass if needed. Osky
