I wish I could remember who said the following....I swear it was either Newt Sterling or Slim Pederson, as those are two guys I always tried to listen to. The tip made reference to the fact that those animals do not teleport to the middle of the field. There has to be entry and exit points. My take on that advice is that if there aren't defined edge features to hone in on, then there might be a better property to set for the same animal.

I'm no expert but that tip really helped me focus on trying to find better locations to set.

Look for point of entry and exit. Look for salient features if there are any. Look for sign.

I have made crop residue clumps, urine post set near edge, dirt holes and territorial sets, place them up to 30-40 ft from fence, travel lane, use wind to carry scent to them
