the video comes through fine for me.

I just used the same method to release a coon and an opossum, only I used a 5 gallon bucket. It worked great. On the coon, I used a catchpole to restrain the animal so I could get the bucket over him. With the larger tub, maybe that wouldn't be needed.

This technique looks safer for all involved.

I've used a bucket for barn/farm cats, the tub looks like a great option for bigger animals.

Piece of advice, don't release them next to your truck. [Linked Image]

I released another one today with the tote and I was alone. Worked just as slick as the first time. I tried this method the first time when I made the video because my catch pole malfunctioned the time before that and I almost killed the cat because I couldn't get it to release. I had to let go of the pipe and cut the cable at the cats neck.luckily I care cable cutters on my belt and the cat was out of it enough I didn't get hurt. I believe the tote is a lot less stress on the cat after all in December I have to catch one during our short 10 day season. Don't think that will be. Problem, I am leaving a couple spots to trap then.

Wish I had more time to trap....

way better than a catch pole for cats ,if you use a catch pole for cats make sure you get a leg an neck together so you don't kill cat

I use milk crates with a handle cut out, bout the same. I carry mine on front of the front of the quad as a basket. Released many critters this way. Like crates as u can see the animal.

If you cut a 5 gal bucket in half and notch out the bottom for the front leg you can do the same thing. The cats back feet are still in play but unless you roll them over they will just be pulling backwards and you dont thave to worry about them much.

If you hind catch a big ol long and lanky one, you can use the bucket to pin him and throw a jacket over the head. You wil have the hind foot freed before he get out from under it.

I like the 5 gal bucket because one fits inside of another one and cut like that they dont get stuck. I cut off slightly less than 50% so it wraps around my bedding bucket (waxed dirt or your own personal choice). This way it takes up no extra room on the 4 wheeler where carrying a storage container would be a pain.

And that took care of the incidental catch of Bobcats.

And if your lucky enough to catch one in the December 10-20 time, you can judge if its a female or not.

I actually met a trapper here this winter that told me to do that slapping them tame, scared, thing. Says that is how he does it. I think he was a little off if ya know what I mean.
