When you ever known people in ca to do something smart? Why do they no longer do preventative wildfire work to reduce the impact of the annual fire in that state. You know, cleaning up under brush, doing controlled burns, that kind of thing.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

I got an aunt that lives out there. Not sure just where? I ask her once years ago about always worrying about burning.. When they built a new home, She said they were required to have brick exteriors, the clay tile type roofs. Keep so much lawn open around the house.. So they do have some requirements at least in places.. I never had to deal with those kind of fires in my 30 years in fire service.. Have to think though that it is the wind really kicks their butts..??? Put enough heat on brick wall or loosing one window in a brick home can burn it down..

I would think the heat would just bust the window and burn the house from inside. Remove all the brush and just have grass and keep it short. JMO
