get a couple dozen kids here for candy.
high school to college age kids used to go out looking for stuff to drag into town. farm machinery, old car, maybe some hay bales. they would pile it up on main street. then sit out in the back of pickups and on the hood of cars and drink beer. next day volunteer fireman picked up cans , people came to town to get what belonged to them or tell the fire men to sell that too. somehow today that is criminal activity though.
kids can still go about collecting candy. I keep waiting for that to be a crime too because of the poor health candy induces.

when I was a kid , we would work our way around the neighborhood over to Grandmas , any family or friends were invited in for baked goods and beer for the adults. when the beer was done and we were sufficiently warmed back up we worked our way down a few more blocks , we never went more than about 3 blocks without being invited in some place and another beer.
walking in 3 inches of snow , half the houses asking what your costume was , and half the kids had to unzip their coat to show they were a whatever they were.

Lived here for 31 years, never had a trick or treater come. I guess I’m just too scary. Oh and I live in a dirt road, and nobody comes this far from town which is 3 miles away. A town with maybe 30 houses and a gas station.

I always buy some kind of candy that I like just in case some little spooks show up. If they don't then I get it all. So far none have shown up. More for me!

I live outside of town about 5 miles and the neighborhood kids have all grown up so none here anymore. I was deer hunting one year over Halloween near Brusset Montana which is just a post office in the middle of nowhere , nearest town is about a hour away but that evening watched several carloads with little trick or treaters come to the ranchers house where we were staying in a cabin. Don't know where or how far they came from but we got a kick out f it.

We had quite a few come through, probably about 200. Which is about normal. Lots of kids, I live in a development though.

The All Purpose Boy Jr., plus his little brother, were the only two that visited my Bride and I. About what we expected to stop by.
