Now instead of assault rifles everyone is using the term weapons of war .This is a much broader term that is very worrisome .there arnt many guns that can't be brought under this umbrella .I would bet there have been more americans killed by muzzle loaded and bolt action weapons of war than semi and auto weapons of war.

I've noticed the same thing. I guess my scoped hunting rifles are now sniper rifles, weapons of war.

The english longbow, the artillery of its day, destroyed french heavy cavalry. By law in England commoners were required to not only own but to be skilled in the use of the long bow. So much so that all forms of sport except archery practice were prohibited on the sabbath.

The funny thing about that is that the military doesn't use AR-15s or semi-auto AKs, which is what people are referring to when they say "weapons of war" or "military grade weapons", but the military does use 1911s, Mossberg 500s, glock, sig sauer and beretta pistols, and Remington bolt action rifles, all of which anti-gun folks wouldn't think of as "military grade weapons".

Remember the "Sat Night Special"? A catchy phrase that was just as BS, that finally faded out when it didn't wash.

The full phrase was inherently racist, N*****town Saturday Night Special. It referred to drunken fights involving knives or guns.

When the left determined that AR-15s were assault weapons, firearm-wise Nancy Pelosi said, "These are the same weapons our military uses in war."

Only against other christens it was ok if used against unbelievers

they were outlawed because of the damage and suffering it was believed they caused

kind of like the polygonal or square bullets that some muzzle loaders were made to fire that were banned for use against fellow christens but ok against unbelievers

The term "Assault Rifle" is going the same way as the "Saturday Night Special". So overused in the wrong context, it has lost all meaning and impact. Along with respect for those that misused it.

FWIW........the "AR" of the AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle and not 'assault rifle', as many mistakenly suggest these days.

I always though the best weapon of war was a Marine. They gonna start banning them too? Good luck with that.
