I have hearing loss in one ear from a friend shooting after I had removed my hearing protection years ago. It’s gotten worse and I have a hard time hearing deer walking while hunting and hearing people talking if any background noise. Would a hearing aid help with hunting and are they weather proof. I would assume it would help hearing people.

You need to go to your local ENT/Audiologist and get our hearing checked. They are the ones that can recommend hearing aids and can tune them for your specific needs.

I sure hope the price has come down, be ready for a shock when they tell you the price, they will tell you LOUD and clear.

In my many years of hearing aid use they make ALL noise louder is all. They do NOT help separate the voices from the other noise. They also are NOT weather proof. If you wear then while in a noisy environment they will ADD to the damage. The VA doctors told me this part.

Cabelas/BP etc sell "Hunter sound amps" that do the same thing, will also attenuate gunfire noise somewhat, and are a lot cheaper.

I've been wearing hearing aids for almost 50 years. Without the aids I would hear nothing. As Drifter said, they are not perfect. When there is a lot of background noise it is difficult to carry on a conversation, but not impossible. I say huh a lot, lol. When it is raining you need to protect the hearing aid from getting wet as it will short out and not work when it is wet. Also, in the summer when it is hot they can short out from perspiration.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I have had two pair of hearing aids in the last 8 years, the first pair was as said, they pretty much amplified everything. The last pair I got is the newest model. They make speech much clearer without the background noise. Hearing aids are about like cellphones, they are improving them about every 2 years with new technology. I have wore these in the shower for about 10min before taking them out, they are also rechargeable. They are pricey though.
