I finally popped on a nite vision scope and planned on mounting it on a new Savage 22-250 bolt action rifle I have. The gun shop owner said the scope I have bought probably wont mount on that gun because of the long slide of the bolt or something like that. I have a .204 H & R single shot I considered putting the nite vision scope on but I really like the scope and set up on that gun as is. So I am pretty sure I am going to get a Henry single shot rifle in .223 and make that into my nite gun. Does anyone own a Henry single shot? I have a couple of their lever action guns but have never shot them. Any comments on the Henry?

I saw a Henry single shot in the store and liked the feel of it. I own three Henry levers and I love all of them, always reliable and accurate, I can only assume the single shot is just as good

My brother has one in 308 and it seems to be a well put together rifle with decent accuracy as it hold 1 inch groups all day with whatever ammo you run through it

Can I ask why single shot? Henry has the “Long Ranger” line now so you could get a .223 lever gun. But they are kinda pricey. A friend has one and it is a good shooter

I have one in the "long Ranger" as well. Its a very nice gun, handles well, shoots most things around a inch. A very nice lock up with the lever, the trigger while not the best. Its worlds ahead of most lever guns. I am sure the single shot would be a great gun and do all that you ask of it. I do know that if you have a problem, it will be taken care of with them.

The reason I want a single shot is because I am mounting a night vision scope on it . In all my years of hunting at nite for critters it seems like if you don't make your first shot count you never really got a good second shot. Don't want to get too trigger happy when you are throwing lead into the darkness. Maybe I won't like the single shot. I can always go to another gun.
