Just went to the Sioux Falls area and with the recent flooding the rat houses are popping up all over the place even the shallower sloughs have more then ever before the old standby places have a lot more then past years. Next year they should be taking hold, lets hope the price picks up a bit on the red commercial types we have.

Nothing better in the trapping world than a bunch of rat houses on a slough.

I saw some new rat houses today ,just went up last two day, and today 1/2 inch of ice on some ponds

Saw 2 huts in a slough the other day. First evidence of a muskrat I've seen since 2011 in southern brown county. Now if the corn would just get a little drier so I could get harvest done I would be a happy camper.

Finding an increasing number of huts going up but some are large enough that they look more like beaver lodges!

Thats good news. I found one up in N Central MN and it was in a spot I am not sure the rat can survive in.

I haven't trapped the rat marshes for over 30 years, but when I see huts, the hair stands up on my arms and I cannot help but smile.

Family funeral to do tomorrow so going to play hooky from church and start early on Sunday. Sounds like a good amount of ice breaking, especially on Weds and Thurs, to keep things going. Never know what you're going to get in the first half of November around here.

I wait until land trapping slows down and chop a little ice then, easier to get around that way. Already getting ADC complains of rats in stock dams so they are coming.
