I went to pick up a boat at Indian town FL to bring it to Hilton Head Island. Got to Indian town on Tuesday evening, left the hire car in Stuart and took an Uber to the boat. Stayed on board that night checking out the on board systems and found that some did not work, but nothing major so it was doable to take the boat out. The yard wanted to do a sea trial the next morning so we did that at 0900, then cast off for the run east down the canal to Stuart and on to for Pierce. I pulled into fort Pierce at around 1600 and fueled the boat up to the brim for the run to St Augustine the next morning. Pulled out of Fort Pierce at 0400 and got her up to cruising speed and headed towards Cape Canaveral then a 10 degree course change for a straight shot to St Augustine. So far so good. 15 miles out of St Augustine the engines started to loose power and a bunch of smoke came out the back end. So shut them down and investigated the problem. The Starboard engine had blown the exhaust manifold elbow right after the turbo clean half in two and covered the whole engine room in black stuff. So I limped with just the port engine into St Augustine and tied up in a marina there. No spares to be had there. So ordered them and should have them on monday. Got a hire car back to Hilton Head and am home now and packed to drive up to Tennessee this weekend to work some on my stuff up there, then back down here, pick up spare parts and tools, get a hire car back to St Augustine, fix boat, fuel up and run it to Hilton head. An almost normal week at the office.

Scuba shuttling boats from one harbor to another sure sounds a lot like shuttling semis from one dock to another.

Yup and very similar engines at time as well. The boat shuffling can be a bit more bouncy unless you are trucking in PA.

I am done trucking till spring and I am slowing WAY down when I get back under a steering wheel. Its time. Truck I parked yesterday is losing 2 gallons of coolant a day. No leaks on the ground. No white exhaust smoke and still has power, No milky engine oil. Press on the brake pedal can hear air leaking under the dash. That made me nervous. I think that coolant is getting in the air system, Likely through a head gasket failure in the air compressor. Put a new air dryer on a month ago and new one needs a new filter already. Been driving it and adding coolant to keep it making money till trapping season. Mechanic can figure it now. There is plenty of time so far as I'm concerned. Its trapping season a week from Wednesday and I aint wrenching on it. Hanging out with kids, grandkids, and my wife.

What's gonna happen with "Pete" after your move?

I left the big dock out there for him and his buddies for when he gets back in December
He is a grown up bird now and will have to look after himself
Come December I’ll miss him for sure though

On another note I think my thermometer is broke

Just wait until there is a minus in front of that number. I hope things go well for you in Tennessee.
