Caught my 3rd skunk of the year today in a coyote set. Bait was a skunk carcass buried and guarded by a Northwoods #2. So either the skunk I caught on that set was just curious or it was the Hannibal Lecter of skunks.

Most critters will eat their own it seems, one minute your buddies the next your lunch.

Nice skunk! Around my parts that skunk is still worth more than some ole stinky yote. Dr, Lecter wanna be or not...

A great Montana fly fisherman and writer, Charlie Brooks, tied a caddis nymph using skunk tail. Great trout fly.

Good looking skunk.

Ignore the garbage in the back of my truck (beer bottle and coke bottle) not mine, I just picked them up on my line as I see them. Swift4me and Allan yeah I've heard skunk fur makes good flies. Might have to hit up the fly shop at North 40 see if they're interested. Fun critters to catch. I really don't mind the smell.

Glad to see you pick up other people's garbage. I usually come home with more trash than whatever I am targeting. I don't understand littering.

I don't understand it either, Ted. It ain't hard to just keep your garbage until you get to a spot you can throw it away. Back home in Central Oregon I would regularly find campsites in the Ochocos just strewn about with everything from dirty diapers to piles of beer cans. It's not as bad here in North Idaho but, like you, I still pick up what I can.

I use skunk carcass in coni boxes to catch skunks. Plus I’ve had conibeared skunks get partially eaten by skunks

It adds to the background décor. Nice skunk.

Six of my 7 skunks last year were on skunky lures. And I was only using a skunky lure at about a third of my sets.
