Ok I got a question for you guys that hunt big corn fields. This is the first time I have dealt with large corn fields and standing corn. The deer have a highway thru out the corn and a massive trail around it. BUT farmer told me today he is starting to shell in the morning and should be done by Thursday evening. Gun season comes in Saturday morning. I have put up 3 stands in the edge of the corn where good bucks are coming out and going across thru the field with the corn stillstanding. Will the deer still use the field or go back to the thickets to move around the farm as they did last year when it was beans.
Just got this lease last year and have only hunt large corn fields once in my life and the corn was out a month before gun season came in......

Just got to our Illinois lease today around 11am and the farmer had just got the corn two days ago. We put my buddy on the field who hasn't killed many big ones and he had 4 shooters come in and shot a 150" 10 PT so up here they still pound the fields after they are cut

Thanks. I have seen some shows on tv and they watch the fields . The guide said the deer are used to the corn being cover and will still come out for several days after it is first shelled. But that was on TV LOL

They will probably change course some but they sure like eating in a combined field
Instead of a standing corn field. I bet it will be good for ya.
