this is ignorant! while mechs generally fly like a fieldpoint it is stupid to just assume and go hunting without testing first.

Well I guess I’ve been ignorant for 20 years, 5 of that I worked in an archery shop and shot daily year round.I know my equipment works due to testing and I know a rage expandable has the same point of impact as my field point. If you need to test it for your own piece of mind go ahead, but I’m just trying to save him some time and effort and money. To each his own...

I use Swackers in my crossbow. I can take the broadhead apart and resharpen the blade. I just shot my 5th deer with the same broadhead tonight. I can still reuse the broadhead but tonight was the end of the arrow. It had a good run 5 deer and 1 turkey. XX75 aluminum.

I use the rage crossbow broadheads in my Parker crossbow and so far they are 6 for 6 with only one deer getting out of sight before he died, and that was my fault. I limit myself to 20 yards because I do not practice enough to do farther. The bow is capable of much more, but I really like having a deer on top of me that has no idea I am there until the bow goes off!

I use 125 gr G5 strikers and I put reflective wrap on the arrow. It lights up like DOT tape when hit with a light. If I re fletch the arrows I put a big strip of that under the fletching's and if the arrows are fletched already I put a strip above the nock to the bottom of the fletching. Can be very helpful finding arrows after dark or if you can go back after dark to look for them.

? for you folks:
If you shoot a magnified scope without a rest how much practice does it take you to tighten the groups up?

You can shop around for any Rage broadheads on sale. Just shoot them with the red collar on. The red is for crossbow.

For the faster xbows I like expandables spitfire, grim reapers, rage, swhacker. My friends wife has take 22 deer now with her older ten point recurve xbow shooting 100 gn spitfires only 2 have made it out of sight. I have taken 3 with spitfires and 5 with swhacker clones from ebay. 4 with my xbow and 1 yesterday with compound. Neighbors have had good luck with rage they both shoot ravin bows. For the fixed blade mother in law her brother and cousin shoot 100 grain thunderheads. All 3 of those bows do not shoot field points and broadhead to the same point of impact. For some reason both recurves stuck them 3-4 inches left( older 10 pt and excaliber) but consistent the 10pt titan rct compound about 2 low.
I'm shooting a center point 370 and 100 gn swhacker clone and they group the same as my field points out to 50 yards. The spitfires are a real close second about a 1 1/2 low at 50 still no problem in my book.
What ever you decide to shoot I would still zero in with your broad head choice just for piece of mind. I'd rather be surprised at the archery range than in the woods.
Another fixed blade I have shot just off my compound is the viper trick 100 4 blade a really well built head have about 6 deer taken with them.
Shoot Straight

I have shot many a different broadhead through my crossbow over the years. I am notoriously cheap when it comes to a few things and broadheads was one for years. I started with thunderheads for 10 years or so and then muzzy's with replacement blades. Thought they were great until i got a package of rage crossbow expandables from a friend for a gift. They are absolutely deadly and leave a great and often short trail to follow. I never understood the difference until i seen it first hand. A lot of broadheads will take any deer. Some do it cleaner faster and with a better trail to follow. The rages are just that. I am sold on them for sure.

Muzzy 100gr for me and the wife. Hit the deer where you're supposed to it's not going anywhere.

If anyone Been wondering??? Right!
I went and bite the bullet yesterday bought myself 3 Mission lighted X-bolts. Tipped them out with rage orange 2 inch expandable came with one practice tip..Pretty sure could have gotten them all cheaper buying them on Amazon. But I did like everyone here always talks about doing. l Went to local archery shop and bought them there. Buy local from little guys right save America.
For any of you that think you may have swayed my thinking.. I will say it was Patrice that did eek Go-D9
You never know I found 3 brand new Titians digging around in my stuff. May throw them down range too if they fit the shafts.

Patrice the meat eater knocks off another one.. Good for you!!
My son and I went to the archery shop this morning shot my X-Bow on the range..Just to cold to go to outdoor range now that I'm old and banged up.. Anyway!
We monkeyed around and of course I had to go threw the whole up down thing with scope adjustment. But we got the bow dialed in at 20 yards with the field points, scope will take it to 30 & 40.. Put in my new broad head point and what do you know. Shoot to same spot as field points how cool is that...
So for skippyturtle who felt it was necessary pollute my post calling someone ignorant>>maybe you could have just made your post less that one word? I do have to say I'm not just off the school bus myself with shooting bows. Maybe little dumb with cross bow stuff suck at math and numbers..Shootin bows had few people say I was a natural..Who knows???
I am a guy though would have shot the broad heads at some point no matter what anyone here said..
AlI in all was really happy with the help I got here with this post and it did not get way off track.. I like it when we all play nice..Big {Hug} for all of you eek

I Did have to have one senior moment though sighting the bow.. actually more than one not going there... I Brain Farted and shot two bolts at same spot. So after whining about the cost of bolts. I wreak a $15.00 bolt shooting twice at same spot..Knew better just wasn't thinking and Crack!..Would have been laughing like a fool if it was someone else bolt I hit.. Not so much when my own..Like the kid said wasn't the first time ya done that..won't be last..
I think I could probably cut and inch off and still shoot this. Don't really want it blowing up in my face though either. Maybe turn it around shoot it the other way...

[Linked Image]

And the luminock which I have never shot on any bow.. Way cool guys. Will probably get them for my old compound if I ever shoot it again.. I just gave my fancy Mathew's compound to my son. He was shooting a cheaper PSE so no sense in my good Mathew's sitting around.. I actually like my old Jenning's just a well.
Now got to go find something to shoot the Mission X-bow at besides a target..

SQUIRREL!

LMAO!

Mac
