I ordered a dozen new traps and wanted to know the best way to degrease them and should i wax them after they get dyed?? i know the wax could make the traps a little quicker but does it really effect it that much?

Degrease in dishwasher and wax. A new trap with no rust will not take she anyway. The wax is not for speed, it's to protect your trap.
Wish I had more time to trap....

Stick them in the dishwasher with no soap. They will come out degreased. Then adjust them how you want and go set them. In a few weeks when they are good and rusty you can pull them and dye and wax. They have to be rusty to take dye like strike said. Wax will speed you trap up but its primary function is to protect your trap, they will function fine with no wax for now.

Would pressure washing then work? Pressure washing is a good 1st step but pressure washing alone won't suffice. All one has to do to test this is to powerwash them and then boil them. You will see oil come off when boiling. I use a home powerwasher though, with no soap (it just happens to be what I have).

Ok maybe a little since it is a lubricant but with good traps speed should not be an issue. Let them rust up because you don't wax then you will be buying new traps or using rusty junk traps.
Wish I had more time to trap....

I heard one of the pro trappers - can't think of his name right now but it's the guy who hawks Full Metal Jacket trap dop - say that when you get new traps - just go set them. Next season you can treat them however you want - dye and wax, paint, full metal jacket... whatever you plan to do.
Personally, I take my new traps and wash them in the dishwasher. Then boil in dye and follow that with wax - just like I would an older trap. The dye never takes very much on a new trap though. Mostly they are just getting boiled. I don't think all that is really needed. I mostly just want to be sure my new traps have wax on them before I set them in the ground because I want them protected from rust as much as possible. And I don't want to get machine oil in my wax pot.
Anyways... I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just try to keep them from getting rusty. That's the main thing.

To sum it up... If you degrease them, I think you should wax them to keep them from getting rusty. But you don't necessarily need to degrease them.
Dye won't do much for a new trap
