I came into some older Redfield scopes, and was wondering if anyone has sent an older one back recently?

Looking at their website, I couldn't find info on older ones, just since Leopold bought them.

Guess I should call, but thought I'd ask here before I do.

Yeah, since Redfield was purchased by Leupold, that's the place you'll likely need to start.
I have an older (vintage 1980) 1.75 - 5x Low Profile Widefield scope that's still a very good scope.

From what I understand Leopold isn't very interested in repairing any of the Redfield scopes hopefully I'd like to hear that rumor is wrong but knowing how things go it probably isn't.
I've got a couple 3 -9 widefield scopes I'd love to get fixed.

I'll post what I find out. One is a 6 power and may be ok, but there is one that I would like to have looked at. First good cold day I'll know if the seals are good.

A gentleman in the scope industry taught me something about the wide field TV type lens that Redfield once used. He said that a high quality lens blank with a chip on its edge, or a bubble or flaw could often be used to grind a wide field lens, whereas it would need to be discarded if intended for a round lens.

I bought a 3X9 Redfield with one of the old command post reticles at a garage sale. It wasn't super clear. So, I called Leopold to see if since they bought the rights to Redfield if they could clear it up. I was told a firm "No". The guy I spoke to was rude. Almost seemed annoyed that I had called. He said they didn't do any service work on Redfield scopes.

I own a several Leopold scopes, but will never buy another one if that's the kind of service to expect.

It seems to me that Redfield started farming out the repairs years before they went out of business. I remember sending some off for customers but it was a repair facility somewhere else. Redfield just paid the repair charges. Did...………...

I have nothing clever to put here.

Used to go to a bar E-Z Pick'ns. Next door to Redfield. The workers hang out there. Wonder about the workmanship?

I've seen it posted and in print since they took over the Redfield name, where Leopold has stated they are not repairing the older redfields
