Some do a piece of clear tape over the labels. I tried that but they still bled to the point none are legible. Tried permanent marker with same results. Scribe scratched lids rust faster as well.

Been a problem for years. I do the tape thing as soon as they are purchased. I got some clear plastic containers with snap on lids that just fit a 1 ounce bottle or 2 wide mouth bottles. Best method I have found.

I take a piece of masking tape and put it on the lid and write the name on it. It can be replaced when it starts to get unreadable. usually about once a year or two. I trap at least 8 mths of the year so mine get used alot and so far the masking tape has worked the best. Ive tried the clear tape on the label and writing directly on the white metal lids. When i open my lure box im looking directly at the lids so having the name on top speeds things up.
