I have a lot of little brown bottles that got wet and now the labels are unreadable or gone completely. Do you guys have a way to mark/ identify the bottles to keep this from happening? I can't tell by the smell

When you first get the lure, place a piece of clear tape over the label. You can also write the name of the lure on the lid with a permanent marker.

Some do a piece of clear tape over the labels. I tried that but they still bled to the point none are legible. Tried permanent marker with same results. Scribe scratched lids rust faster as well.

Been a problem for years. I do the tape thing as soon as they are purchased. I got some clear plastic containers with snap on lids that just fit a 1 ounce bottle or 2 wide mouth bottles. Best method I have found.

Just try to use stuff up faster lol. Some labels do better than others, the worry with those is the label falling off, not bleeding or washing out.

I put 4- 1ounce bottles in one of the plastic 16ounce bait jars. Write names on lid with marker, stays pretty good and reduces the smell in my truck.

I take a piece of masking tape and put it on the lid and write the name on it. It can be replaced when it starts to get unreadable. usually about once a year or two. I trap at least 8 mths of the year so mine get used alot and so far the masking tape has worked the best. Ive tried the clear tape on the label and writing directly on the white metal lids. When i open my lure box im looking directly at the lids so having the name on top speeds things up.

I use permanent marker and abbreviate the names on top of the lid. Makes it easier to select what you want out of the bucket or bag too, because all I can see is the tops of the lids.

I bought some left over lures from an old trapper that had the colored duct tape wrapped around the bottles. When i asked about the tape he said it was to keep the glass from getting broke and so he knew what lure was what by the color. He would keep a pad in his truck with the lures that coincided with tape color. Never to young to learn old tricks!

I use 2inch clear shipping tape over the labels. Some still get a little wet but I've never had one get so bad I couldn't read it.
