I'd freeze it first and kill the parasites maybe just don't feed them anything you used acetone on.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Do you treat it with anything to help it last longer in warm weather, or do you just us it in the cold months? Thanks
Everything the left touches it destroys

I have used 'coon and other furbearer blubber as woodpecker feed many times, and I used to toss beaver carcasses into the chicken yard as well. They will fight over the stuff. Nowadays about the only thing I use is bear fat. Since retiring and closing up my taxidermy shop I get a couple 5 gallon pails full of bear fat from a taxidermist in the county next door. I only hang it out on the trees (in wire cages) during cool/cold weather, otherwise it gets to stinking fairly fast.

The question to ask is whether the fat will affect the flavor of the eggs. If you feed chickens carp the eggs will take on a fishy flavor.

I noticed how the wild birds pick the coon fat clean off the carcass in the winter, would it be safe to give it to my egg laying chickens and turkeys ? Would it be better to render it down and make suet cakes vs "raw" globs of fat ? -Thanks Our chickens pick off carcasses all winter off and on. They love coon fat, but everything loves muskrat and beaver best.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
