Hi D.T. This is a rat blanket Zim and I had made a few years ago. We used 45 rats to make a nice sized (4' x 7') throw for the couch. We had it backed with a smooth quilted fabric. It's wonderful to have around. If anyone has a chill, they just "give themselves to the rats."

That rat blanket is sharp. Honestly just trying to save some of my fur and getting ideas. Now i have rats on the mind. Some of these i have already had of course, but appreciate all the very good info ya'll are sharing. I also have 4 bear rugs and a MT mountain goat. Just stirring the pot for ideas.
How/if at all do you keep the liner/fabric from shifting (other than sewing the sides)?
What kind of thread did you sew with? I have sewn some tents with special nylon thread that is strong and durable. Seems like a good application.
"Embroidery floss, yarn or a similar product is used to literally tie the layers together every few inches. This works well on both pieced and whole-cloth quilts. It is suitable for a variety of different projects, including those with different weights. Quilts with no batting or those with extra thick batting that are not able to be quilted in any other way are great candidates for this type of technique." This is what we did on ours.

I didn't make mine, D.T. We took the pelts in and had it made at Wild Things Fur in Rockton, WI. I know they did tack the fur front to the back quilted fabric in places, but I am not sure about the thread used. I gave them the rats and told them what size I wanted and I chose the fabric from some choices they had there.
Thanks, Tlguy. I do like the way rats work together in a hexagon pattern with all of their colors showing!

Darling leather and fur is the FB name I think?
