i looked on groenwald and it says the market is high demand for muskrats. obviously that may not mean they are worth a lot but i am wondering if anyone is willing to share what they have got so far this season?

It's pretty early in the season. The south zone of MN has only been open a week. I look for a short harvest though.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Maybe a little premature. Or drumming up business is all!

Supposed to be tied inversely to the ranch mink supply.Like one of newtons 3 laws of physics.

Last year I got a $1.10 ,however I confess they were not the best.

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

Weather-wise, I am already trapping under ice. Unless there is a major warm up the open water trapping is done here in NE Wisconsin. Harvest numbers may be low which may bode well for those of us who stick with it.

Wiebke was at a 5 dollar basis a couple of weeks ago with a dollar drop per size. There is interest in rats at that level.

I wish all of you the best of luck. This is not the best of years for the fur market, business wise.

I can get into rat trapping if they average about $4. Might have to catch a few more this year.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I've been seeing more rats and sign this year, compared to last. Here in Michigan, anyway.

Almost for certain what well get for better rats on average. Maybe even $3 average or close to $2.50, price always low. Big demand, not wanna pay for them, markets are disgusting, nafa down, after next week, probly more like after this Sunday, trapping is going be wind way down, I well do some but nothing like last season, to much wear tear on aging truck, be lucky to come up with gas money with cold weather an low prices, no motivation with nafa gone an dirt cheap other buyers. Not interested in $15 top coons or $3, mink, $2.50 rat averages , stretch dry coon from better section at $7 average. I don't know it but have feeling that what look at

I know of 2 fairly large marshes with at least 40 huts In each one . And NO ONE is trapping them. That kind of tells me rats aren't worth trapping.

If nobody traps them wait a few years and see what happens. Rats a good for more than skin. The make great bait meat, they make great dog food, some would even say they are good to eat. A pile of rats in a feed.pile.will.draw coyote in for snaring. Problem I am having is early ice. I can't walk on it yet and can't just through it now or I would be out. As soon as I can walk it I am going ratting. Got to do my part.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Starting not to pencil out? Trappers, probably should not be allowed pencils.
